In this section, a complete introduction of the tool will be given like what is Expert view , Object repository etc.........

Before we start testing I think one should have the knowledge of what is the tool all about and how it works with various elements in it.If we can master the tool only then we can successfully test the application.

Quick test professional is a functional testing tool which is mainly driven by keywords, and the language it understands is VB script which is a medium by which we will be communicating with the tool.

This is mainly used to test windows based applications and browser based applications.

Browser based are those which have a URL or website address and other than these are window based applications.
 In both of the applications we find objects like text boxes, links, pages, buttons etc all these are known as software objects which we will test by automating their behaviour.

Before u start testing or knowing about what is and how to test the application just study the functionality of the application for example opening any browser window look at the home pages or the links or the navigation and try to learn the properties of those objects.

Software objects have two attributes Methods and properties.....Methods are the operations or actions we are going to perform like clicking, dragging, typing etc and properties are characteristics , quality or the nature like whether they are small or big ,where they are located in the application, are they buttons or push buttons etc............

If we can master these two attributes then automation  testing becomes much easy and all this is done using QTP.

So, Automation is using a tool we perform on a software object .
